Battle Creek Falls

Saturday, we decided to get out of the house for a little bit. It was perfect timing, since it has been raining all week. And, actually as we got in the car to go home, it started raining. It was a nice little hike. We asked this guy up there to take our picture. He thought he was Mr. Photography - a little cocky. He took like 10 pictures at all different angles and he was trying to be all artistic. When he gave the camera back he said, "Several of those pictures will be framed and hanging on your walls soon. I took some great pictures." Wow. Ok. Got them home downloaded them - Mr. Photography - not one picture turned out. They were blurry, or we weren't even in them!! So, the picture here is the best of the worst. Note to self.... the pictures we take ourselves are much better!! Oh well. It was a fun anyway.
The first two we took ourselves, the last photo was the best of the worst.

Basketball and Birthday

I have been trying several months to get some BYU basketball players in my class. I have my room plastered with life size posters of the team. My class has really gotten into the spirit. Finally, we got someone to come in. I told my class I had a surprise for them. They were so excited, watching the clock until the time arrived. They couldn't believe it, when I told them Noah Hartsock was coming. They were so excited and loved every second. It was a fun day.

Also, yesterday was Em's birthday. I made a little birthday banner that turned out pretty cute.

We had a yummy dinner and great dessert. I can't believe how old she is now. She is fun to have around. (I was sick earlier this week, and between she and P, I was well taken care of. Thanks guys!)

This Little Piggy....

So, these are the piggy cupcakes that I made for the family "picnic." It actually was too windy to go outside, and we had to go indoors. But the piggies don't matter where they go, just as long as they are invited!

Also, the race was yesterday. It was a beautiful day for running. I haven't been able to train as much because of the weather. Despite, we all did a great job. My race time was 3 minutes faster than my last race. P - increased his by over 9 minutes. Overall, it was a good day.

SPRING???

We get hints of spring. I guess it is full blown spring. The flowers are all out, the sun is shining, the rain doesn't freeze. I have yet to wear sandals. I have cold feet anyway, so I have to make sure it is pretty warm to wear sandals!!

Last week was teacher appreciation week. I got a couple of thoughtful gifts. I am loving this one though. It is just happy to see!

I am not typically known for keeping these kinds of plants alive. We'll see how it goes. I must admit - I got a green leafy plant last March - it is still alive and looking good. It has been over a year and still looks good. I was given another cool looking plant in February. The tag said it was tropical and "delicate." I gave it to my sister, it had no chance with me! Of course it is doing well and looking good. Houseplants just aren't my forte. Loving all the tulips that around the neighborhood.

Only 3 days until the race is over and I can't wait!!

Mother's Day Treat

I am a few weeks behind on my weekly blog goal. So, I will make up for it by posting several times today. I have something I could share, but get too lazy!! I am so tired when I get home- those kids really wear me out.

Anyway, on to my story. We were invited to my mother in laws for dinner. I was asked to bring a treat. I searched all over and found a recipe she was sure to love. Here it is...

Fudgy Peppermint Truffle Cake

So, I got the ingredients and started making it. Well, it came out of the oven, and I went to flip it out, and a huge mess is all I got. It didn't come out all pretty and perfect like the picture. So, I had 30 minutes before we left to figure something out. Hum...... Got it.
Scooped them into mugs.....

and topped it with some cool whip. Looks just like a cup of hot cocoa. It looked great, tasted great, and everyone loved it. That was quick thinking on my part!!!

The J Man

I don't want you thinking this is J's blog, because it isn't - it is mine. (He has his own!!!) But he is just so cute - I can't resist. He was staying at my house while his parents went to the BYU Art Museum. Once he found my baskets, he just wanted in and wouldn't get out. He still fits, barely, but I can't imagine it is comfortable. He had treats - in his basket, read books - in his basket and just chilled - in his basket. Not sure what the obsession was, but he loved being in it.
