The heating element went out in our oven last week. Of course the only place that had the part was a small shop that had already closed for the weekend. Going without the oven wasn't a big deal, but one night we really wanted cookies. So we tried some alternate cooking methods.
First up - in a waffle iron:

Results: It tasted more like a waffle. It was pretty cakey. Not my favorite method.
Second up - in a frying pan, like a pancake:

Results: It had a burned taste, even though it wasn't burned. It was golden on the outside but really gooey on the inside. Just didn't taste like a normal cookie.
Conclusion: Cookies are best baked in the oven. Eating dough is the best substitute.
